College and Young Adult
The College and Young Adult Ministry is devoted to guiding young adults into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. We offer Sunday morning Bible Study during the first Sunday School hour, Tuesday night, young adult guys gather for a Bible Study. Thrusday night, we have a prayer meeting for our primary worship experience targeted toward and led by college students and young adults. This worship experience takes place in the basement of the Capitol Theater in downtown Maryville at 127 W. Harper Street. Look for the red door with a black and white 127 on it.
Weekly Schedule is as follows:
Sunday School 9:30am upstairs on the Fairview UMC campus.
Tuesday evening Guys only Bible Study 6:30pm at various restaurants around town.
Wednesday evening 6:00pm Nooma at Fairview UMC campus.
Thursday night prayer meeting,accountability and fellowship opportunity in various homes or at the Fire Escape.
Sunday night Fire Escape 8:30pm.
In Sunday School, we are studying the Bible utilizing the Experiencing God guidebook. Light breakfast is provided. Brent Johnson leads the study,
Tuesday night is a study of the Old Testament. Each week at a different restaurant, one member of the group leads us through several chapters. Currently, we are studying 1 Samuel 18-19.
Wednesday evening a study led by jeremy LaDuke is offered that focuses on topical issues taught in a unique contemporary style by christian communicator Rob Bell.
Thursday evening is a prayer meeting for the Fire Escape. We have a light meal, devotional, accountability, fellowship and prayer of course. Led by either Monty Fritts or Brent Johnson.
Fire Escape:
Our primary worship event for college and young adults is the Fire Escape. It occurs at 8:30 on Sunday Nights. A small meal is prvided from 8:30 to 9:00pm with worship beginning at 9:00 led by Max Linke. Then, Monty Fritts, a Maryville College senior, preaches the Word focusing on Godly living as a college student or young adult.
Currently scheduled events are Sept. 15th Florida vs. UT. at 1924 Big Gully Road. 15 by 8 feet screen will be available and Sept. 24th rafting down the Gauley river in W. Virginia.
