Glasses for the Masses
Glasses For the Masses (GFM) was formed in 1995 by Fairview UMC as a mission to supply eye glasses to Mark Waltz in Paraguay. Praise God for Tom Tate and Jerald Johnston starting the mission. Mark and his wife Johanna serve as a medical team in Paraguay. They are sponsored by Mission Society for United Methodists / Atlanta, GA (MUSM). Our Lord has enabled us to furnish Mark's glasses and to supply other missions also. We have worked with over 30 missions. We receive glasses year round from Hawaii to New York, from over 300 individuals and organizations. We also help missions by loaning a vision instrument called a Focometer. God brought us enough donors so we could purchase seven of these from InFocus / Houston, TX. We have three of these available for loaning out to short term missions.
Countries we have been in mission with besides our primary mission to Mark in Paraguay. Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Liberia, Philippines, Ukraine, Venezuela.
