A Conversation with the Cross

The Words of the Cross

We filter situations through our circumstances and screen words through the hearing of our life experience. Six women, ironically all with no names, walk ever so briefly across the pages of the gospels. They are used, abused, invisible, hopeless, forgotten, and all are desperate. And, then they meet Jesus and are forever changed.
We have no record that any of these women were at the crucifixion. The gospels of Mark and Luke speak of women at Golgotha. Perhaps these nameless, desperate souls were among the group! But, even if they weren’t, surely they would have heard of the crucifixion and of the fate of the one who changed them so dramatically.
We invite you to join them in a journey to Calvary where words from the one who IS the Word changes lives and alters eternity for them and for us all!
During this season we will be using two books—Desperate Women of the Bible and Cries from the Cross. Books will be on sale at the church for $10 each. We encourage you to buy one or both for your personal study and devotion time.

SUNDAY EVENINGS DURING LENT
CHAPEL—6 P.M.
Words to the Cross
The cross will always be the turning point in history and in lives. For two thousand years humanity has wrestled with, rebuked, ignored, or embraced the cross. Join us on Sunday evenings in the chapel as we continue our conversation with the cross. We will explore how people reacted to the cross when Jesus was dying on it and how we respond to it today with these words:
• The word of scorn
• The word of obedience
• The word of indifference
• The word of faith
• The word of testimony.
