Glasses for the Masses was formed in 1995 by Fairview UMC by Tom Tate and Jerald Johnston as a mission to supply eye glasses to Mark Watlz in Paraguay. Mark and his wife Johanna serve as a medical team in Paraguay. They are sponsored by Mission Society for United Methodists in Atlanta, Georgia. This mission has furnished Mark’s glasses and supplied hundreds of pairs of glasses to missions in Africa, South America, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central America.

Glasses are received year-round hailing from Hawaii to New York, from more than 300 individuals and organizations. We help missions by loaning a vision instrument called a Focometer. God brought us enough donors to purchase seven of these from InFocus in Houston, Texas. We have three available to loan to short term missions.
